What's in the pan and what's in the pot

You've been cookin' now all day long

Better put the leaf in the table
If we're all gonna get to sit down
Pass out the plates and napkins
Spread that silverware 'round
Grandma's helping in the kitchen
You can hear her snappin' the beans
Aunt Maggie's puttin' on an apron
Gonna' fix up a salad with greens

Aunt Karen is brewin' up ice tea
Keith is slicin' the bread
Some folks like it with margarine
We'll spread butter instead
Mattew's bringin' some homebrew
Uncle Bob brought a bottle of rye
Abby walked into the kitchen
Caught Alex with his thumb in the pie

Emily's pickin' ukulele
Elizabeth is tootin' her flute
Dog is barkin' at the back door
The cat fell asleep in my boot
Granddad's snoozin' in the rocker
You can tell ‘cause he's startin' to snore
Uncle Lee's tellin' some story
‘bout a yankee got shot in the war

Laura get the girls to the table
We'll hold hands as we offer a prayer
Thinkin' ‘bout friends and family
And everyone we wish could be there
I'm just sittin' at the table
Watchin' this family of mine
Might get a little bit rowdy
But we always have a really good time
