Katie

He took his Katie by the hand, she loved her handsome sailin man
Each day they'd stroll a-long the sandy beach
A driftwood fire to warm their hands, he'd tell her tales of distant lands
By and by, for his old guitar he'd reach
As the sun sank low
By the crackin fire he'd sing to her the words that she loved so

He'd sing, "Katie let's go sailin' out to sea once more.
Seagull's cryin' longs to set us free once more.
Freedom that belongs to the waves we love to ride, you and I."

He set set his course for Greenland's shore
He'd not been gone a week or more
Into a ragin' storm his ship did roam
Heavin' timbers cracked and strained
Crewmen struggled, all in vain
They knew they'd never see their shores of home
As the sun sank low,
He dreamed he sang by Katie's side, the words that she loved so

He'd sing, "Katie let's go sailin' out to sea once more.
Seagull's cryin' longs to set us free once more.
Freedom that belongs to the waves we love to ride, you and I."

Katie looks out on the sea, rememberin' how it used to be
And strolls alone a-long the sandy beach
A driftwood fire still warms her hands as she dreams about her sailin' man
With his old guitar he left for her to keep
As the sun sinks low
She dreams of how he sang to her so many years ago.

He'd sing, "Katie let's go sailin' out to sea once more.
Seagull's cryin' longs to set us free once more.
Freedom that belongs to the waves we love to ride."

He'd sing, "Katie let's go sailin' out to sea once more.
Seagull's cryin' longs to set us free once more.
Freedom that belongs to the waves we love to ride, you and I."
